Christopher Wallace, Design Consultant

TRADITIONAL RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

After more than 40 years as an architect, I have made some changes to my firm—as of July 1st, 2022 the firm is now “Christopher Wallace, Design Consultant.” Our main focus will remain the provision of custom, residential design, particularly for traditional new homes and heritage renovation projects, which has been our principal area of expertise for many years. Thus, we offer most of the same services as always except we will no longer include services such as obtaining building permits. We are, however, in contact with several firms that can provide such services when needed.

“Attentive and responsive, Chris Wallace is the ideal candidate if you are looking for an architect with an unerring eye for detail. Chris possesses encyclopedic knowledge about what makes a building beautiful to look at and wonderful to live in… I am so fortunate to live in one of his creations. Seven years after its completion I have yet to find a single thing I would change!”

Willow Aagaard, The Beach, Toronto

“Many times now, Green Bros. Construction has had the good fortune to be the contractor hired to build the beautiful traditional residential designs that Chris Wallace puts on paper. In every case, it’s been an absolute pleasure to partner with him to bring those designs to life! When we finish a Chris Wallace project, it’s always one we can point to with pride!”

Rob Green, Green Bros, Construction

“Chris, thank you for your invaluable work designing the addition to our home. Your intricate plans with attention to detail, such as window positioning to maximize natural light and roof lines in keeping with the original design, allowed us to blend the renovation with our existing 1930’s structure, and the final results were exactly what we had envisaged.  We continually receive compliments on how the renovation keeps the integrity of the “old house”. Thanks again Chris for helping to make our addition a success!”

Pat and Harry Byrd, Leaside, Toronto

“Chris is an associate with similar sensitivity to the traditional style. His knowledge of classical building has often been of great assistance on our 19th century restorations.”

“We bought our vacant lot in Historical Meadowvale Village over ten years ago, wanting to build our dream home. We had heard of a local architect, Chris Wallace, who coincidentally also lived in the village and specializes in heritage renovations and new-builds. We met with him to discuss the features we were looking for in our future home. Chris came up with a plan that we immediately fell in love with, both inside and out. He met every aspect of the long, long wish list we had discussed. Because of the historical significance of Meadowvale Village, we were not the only ones that needed to love the house. We had to get the approval of both the Meadowvale Village Heritage Committee, as well as the Mississauga Heritage Committee for the exterior, which was not an easy task. Chris attended every meeting with us and stood by us until the time our home was approved. I can’t tell you how many people have come into our house and asked if it is a century home, which can only mean that Chris did an outstanding job of keeping with the historical feel of the house. We have been in our dream home for nine years now and hope to be here for many, many years to come and cannot imagine living anywhere else. Thank you, Chris, for turning our dream into reality!”

Michael and Sue Picco, Meadowvale Village

“Christopher Wallace designed a house for us in Lindsay, Ontario. We absolutely appreciate his architectural knowledge, his creativity and his incredible attention to detail. Our house was designed to have light coming in at all times of the day, which was important to us. He also positioned the house to allow us the best views from each room. The mill work is absolutely beautiful. Every major goal we anticipated was accomplished. Chris Wallace did not design a house for us, he designed a home. We are looking forward to our next project and we would not consider anyone else to be our architect.”

Alex and Debbie Richardson, Lindsay, Ontario

“Chris Wallace was our architect for a heritage property we renovated some years back. My husband had a vision for what he wanted to build and Chris helped us bring that vision to life. He was able to work within the heritage parameters, on a unique lot that had many challenging obstacles including an irregular shape to the property and an existing structure that could not be removed due to heritage protection. Chris was always pleasant and went out of his way to meet our expectations. He also helped guide us through the permit process, site plan approval and meeting with the Committee of Adjustment. We love our home and were happy to have Chris with us on our journey.”

Siobhan and Tony Kukolic, Meadowvale Village

“Chris Wallace provided professional design services to us in the renovation and addition to our Leaside home. We had given the renovation of our home a great deal of thought, and had a clear sense of what we wanted. Chris carefully listened to our needs and began a process of developing thoughtful options that opened up exciting new possibilities and added “WOW factor”. His design achieved a strong integration of the old with the new – retaining original character and adding new openness and light to the home. We wanted a strong relationship between the inside and outside and this was achieved through the creation of a roofed terrace and connection to a series of outdoor rooms that expanded the total living space.

We are grateful to Chris for his responsive leadership through the design process and assistance in the selection of an excellent contractor who was sensitive to his design. We have recommended him to several friends and neighbours in the community who have also been extremely pleased with his professional design work.”

Bruce and Julie Cudmore, Leaside, Toronto

“We commissioned Chris Wallace to design a special Grand Victorian house in the Village of Meadowvale. The challenges included doing all drawings and submittals to gain all permits necessary to build in this sensitive area. In order to gain approval we needed the blessings of City of Mississauga, Credit Valley Conservation, and Mississauga Heritage and the Heritage Committee of the Village of Meadowvale. Chris managed to get all approvals in a timely manner cooperating with each agency to achieve this. The house involved extensive details in order to incorporate 1890’s Victorian features, authentic to the period. The house was done within budget and on time, most importantly it was a beautiful timeless building that we were absolutely thrilled with. Building the house with Chris was a very rewarding and satisfying experience.”
